Penn captain Owen Thomas Death
Owen Thomas, a Parkland High School graduate and University of Pennsylvania junior and football player, was found dead this afternoon at his off-campus apartment in Philadelphia, the university said.
University spokeswoman Lori Doyle says Wharton junior Owen Thomas was found dead at 2 p.m. Monday. She says the cause of death has not been determined but “no foul play is suspected.”
Thomas was a 6-foot-2, 240 pound defensive end. He had just been named as one of the team’s captains earlier this month.
Owen Thomas was a second-team all Ivy League player in 2009 when he recorded 29 tackles, and finished second in the league with six sacks.
Thomas’ older brother, Matt, also played for Penn and graduated in 2002.
