That’s a great trick that if done right is only a PATCH job. If you understand basic science then you’ll know that hot air expands. Well if you fill the inside of the tire with flammable vapor and light it, it immediately super heats the air inside and forces the expansion of the air inside. This works until the air inside cools down and the tire will come loose again. So, if you only pop a tire (not blow it out, if there’s a hole in the rubber it clearly wont work) then this is a great fix until you can get to the shop and get them to re-inflate your tire.

@mike - the only use the fire to reseat the bead. if you watch, they re-inflated it afterwards. so unless it was punctured or it sustained side-wall damage from the impact, that tire is as good as new.

also, if you spray to much into the tire, the explosion could cause the tire pressure to jump up for a second beyond what it can handle causing structural damage or even tire failure. so, if you’re in the middle of nowhere and have to do this, start small and see what happens.
