I have wintered at the south pole, I have saw -100 f with -165 f windchill and tried this same experiment. With hot water your attention is on the steam and if you throw it far enough the water becomes very spread out and hard to see. The majority of the water hits the ground even at -100, and if its cold water its easier to see. -48 ain’t chit
try ice…not vapor…vapor would be a gas. its the same as your breath freezing when it is so cold out
